What Is Herman Oak Leather?
Founded in 1881, Herman Oak has spent well over a century refining traditional vegetable tanning methods. Instead of using harsh chemicals to speed up production, vegetable tanning relies on natural tannins from tree bark and other plant materials.
The result is leather that is dense, durable, and develops a rich patina as it ages.
Unlike many factory-made leathers, Herman Oak starts with exceptionally clean, full grain hides. The natural grain is left intact, giving every piece its own unique character instead of covering imperfections with heavy finishes or synthetic coatings.
Why We Hand Dye Our Leather
Most leather manufacturers buy pre-colored leather because it's faster and more consistent.
We prefer to start with natural leather and dye it by hand.
