We are passionate about sustainability and supporting local industries. We exclusively source vegetable-tanned leather from US tanneries, along with American made thread and dyes, ensuring environmentally-friendly and high-quality materials for our products. Our process include hand dying every piece of leather and using a traditional saddle stitch to hold up through years of daily use.

Saddle Stitching: Our meticulous hand-stitching not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures unparalleled longevity, surpassing other stitching methods.

Machine Stitching: Precision Meets Efficiency. Our wallets are carefullycrafted using an industrial walking foot sewing machine, ensuring accuracy and strength with each stitch, thanks to the use of a robust #207 thread.

Threads are sourced from Maine Thread Company, which has been manufacturing thread products for 35 years in Lewiston, Maine. Dark Forest pieces are stitched with their .040” braided waxed cord, a durable, wax-coated thread that can withstand up to nearly 50 lbs. of weight.

Dark Forest’s leather wallets are made with full-grain vegetable- tanned leather from Hermann Oak, a tannery based in St. Louis, MO. Vegetable-tanned leather undergoes an intensive tanning process that uses vegetable oil instead of chemical-based alternatives, making it an environmentally-friendly and extremely durable option for leather goods.
